Completed earlier this year for a Loyal Drums endorser. After working through designs and composition ideas with the client, the drum was painted showing a vibrant seascape in blues and greens, under a brilliant golden sunrise to depict the journey of Saint Brendan the Navigator. A group of medieval Celtic monks accompany the Saint, encountering whales and mermaids as they sail into the unknown. The counter hoops that tension the drum heads are embellished and gilt in 23K gold leaf with ancient Celtic decoration found in the Book of Kells. The Client's name is painted on the side, and illuminated in the style of the Book of Kells.
This drum was designed and painted for Ralph Hardimon, an inductee of the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame and Grammy nominee.

Designed for and with the input of Dr. John Wooton, this design is based around Sanford Moeller’s Grand Republic artwork, but modified to include a night theme. Magnolia branches wreath the design instead of the traditional Laurel, a crayfish replaces the olive branch and the eagle clutches the collector’s signature drumsticks. It is painted in acrylic paint/ink and gilded in silver leaf.
Moeller’s classic Grand Republic design for the U.S. Army Band, one of the branches 4 premier musical organizations. A total of 8 snares and 3 bases were painted for this set of instruments to include a sidepiece showing the Unit’s Crest and lineage banners woven into a bouquet, designed to represent it’s early 1900s era founding.
Close up of the US Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps new Ceremonial drum artwork, hand painted and gilt in 24K Gold leaf as well as silver leaf.
Full Ceremonial set of instruments for the US Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. Painted utilizing several traditional early American decorative methods including Theorum style stencils. The style of the design was created to pay homage to the Corps over 50 years lineage dating back to 1960.
Each landscape of the 8 crests are unique paintings, designed to fit within a consistent aesthetic, while also making each drum a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork.
This artwork was inspired by late 18th Century American Eagle design. The overall tone was kept to a lower key in order to keep an antique appearance throughout the instrument.
A special project for Loyal Drums, this set is a variation on the Moeller Eagle design, handpainted in monochrome and gilt in patent silver leaf. The shells are a carbon fiber composite, and left revealed throughout the design. -AR
This project is my take on the “traditional” Moeller Style Eagle, handpainted with additional side artwork bearing an area for name ribbons. -AR
Snare drum shell for Loyal Drums to complete a project for the Denver Police Pipes and Drums. -AR
This set of 3 snares and 2 basses completed for the Golden Eagle Band, and constructed by Loyal Drums. Additional design and layout work completed to ensure a well rounded composition between crest and wording across different shell sizes. -AR
This is a replica of an early model field drum from the United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps. This particular design is based on the artwork of the period of the Corps founding through the 1990s which was emblazoned on drums build by Soistman.
